DeepRead is a Chrome extension designed to enhance your reading experience by enabling AI-powered prompt responses directly from selected text. Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and how we protect it.

DeepRead does not collect or transmit any personal information.

The extension stores the following locally on your browser:

• Custom prompts (stored via Chrome Sync Storage)
• Model selection and API key (stored via Chrome Local Storage)

Your data is not uploaded or shared with any third-party servers, except as outlined below.

2. Use of API Key

To communicate with OpenAI's API, the extension requires an API key provided by you. This key is:

• Stored only on your device
• Used only to send requests to https://api.openai.com/v1/chat/completions
• Never sent to any other servers

3. Data Sharing

DeepRead does not share, sell, or track any user data.

All text processing is done through calls to OpenAI's API using the prompts and content you explicitly send. Responses are temporarily stored in your browser for display.

4. Third-Party Services

This extension interacts only with OpenAI's API. Please refer to OpenAI’s Privacy Policy for details on how they handle submitted content.

5. Security

We take reasonable precautions to secure any data stored in your browser’s local storage. However, we encourage users to avoid sharing sensitive or personally identifiable information through the prompts.

6. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If changes are made, the updated policy will be reflected here with a revised effective date.
